SENIOR players Sam Wilson and Dean Furman are set to continue taking interim charge of Warrington Rylands until the end of the season.

Blues have been looking for a new manager since Michael Clegg departed for Macclesfield last month and in the meantime, Wilson and Furman have overseen on-field matters.

Their three games in charge have yielded two victories, the latest being a 2-1 win at Bradford Park Avenue on Saturday which followed a win at FC United of Manchester via the same scoreline last Tuesday.

The club are continuing with their search for a permanent replacement for Clegg but given the positive response under the senior players, the Guardian understands they are now happy to leave them in charge for the final eight games of the season and whatever may follow in the play-offs.

Rylands remain on course for a spot in the end-of-season shake-up – they sit third in the Northern Premier League Premier Division table with a six-point cushion inside the all-important top five.

After back-to-back away wins to continue their unbeaten record on the road in league football this season – they are the only team in the top seven tiers of English football yet to lose an away game – Blues are back on home soil this weekend as they welcome Bamber Bridge to Gorsey Lane.
