AFTER an 18-month, Covid-enforced absence, the Warrington District Chess League is back.
Face-to-face, over-the-board matches resume from this evening, with the season running until May.
The six clubs currently active – Atherton, Culcheth, Northwich, Ormskirk, Skelmersdale and Winwick, will be fielding 16 teams of players of all ages and abilities in both league and cup fixtures.
Other clubs at Penketh and St Helens are planning to resume competitive chess in the near future.
Prospective new members are welcome to join any of the clubs, with more information on the league website – wdcl.co.uk.
