Tatton Park plays host to the 5th English Open Chainsaw Carving Competition and a combination of country sports, displays and attractions. They are part of The Tatton Park Country Fair being held on 29th, 30th & 31st August 2009 at Tatton Park, Knutsford, Cheshire and we are offering 10 lucky readers the chance to win a pair of ticket to the fair.

The fair is the largest event of its type in the region which hosts three-days of country entertainment, top country sports, arena demonstrations and attractions, endless shopping, special themed villages (craft, fishing & falconry among them) and regional specialist food halls.

Visitors to the fairs can expect to see all their favourite country attractions in all day action packed arenas and special themed villages. Over 80 of the world’s rarest Birds of Prey come together in a unique falconry village and demonstration arena. Regular demonstrations are planned and include an ‘Out of Africa’ display.

The 5th English Open Chainsaw Competition takes place at Tatton Park Fair in 2009. The event has become a real favourite with visitors and attracts enthusiasts from all over the UK and Europe. The carvers come from all over the world and are amazing to watch. They use pieces of wood up to 20 feet in height to produce the carvings, and each one is a sought after work of art. At the end of the competition the carvings are auctioned – watch out for the speed carvers – carvings against the clock!

The new ‘Food Glorious Food’ arena and country kitchen offer visitors the chance to taste and buy many different types of local and regional specialist foods. Local restaurants and regional food groups are taking part. The country kitchen chef theatre has all day cookery demonstrations by top regional chefs of Game (sponsored by game-to-eat, Somerfield and Falcon Ranges) and mouth watering dishes using fresh local produce.

There’s something for all the family including the youngsters. Apart from the usual puppet shows and amusements, there is the opportunity to learn how to fish with the Angling Trust, or fly a hawk in the Falconry Village, or handle a gundog at the Gundog Clinic. The 20 minute sessions are free so come along and ‘Have A Go’. With over 100 specialist country shopping stalls as well as the themed village stalls to browse and superb food to eat – all day - a trip to the Tatton Park Country Fair is a treat for all.
