A WEEK into my fast food takeaway challenge and it’s official – my vital statistics have not changed!

I have been eating nothing but junk food, morning, noon and night for the past seven days.

And a trip to Warrington Hospital on Monday afternoon had me fearing the worst.

But nursing assistant Linda McMullan discovered that my weight and body mass index were identical to last week and my pulse and blood pressure rates have barely altered at all.

The circumference of my waist may have increased by half an inch from 34.5in to 35in, but it is difficult to tell because it depends if the measurement is taken at exactly the same point between the hips and belly button.

I’m awaiting the results of my initial blood cholesterol and liver tests and I won’t know how they have been affected until the end of this experiment when I am re-tested.

However, one thing is for sure, these kind of statistics only reveal half the story – I’m sick of my new diet.

I’ve felt tired, bloated, hungry between meals and uninterested in eating – something I never would have expected.

Going out to buy food each night has been a chore, while the amount of money I’ve had to spend to maintain this lifestyle is nothing short of shocking.

Fast food doesn’t come cheap.

That’s not to say I haven’t enjoyed eating a lot of the food, because I certainly have.

But when the salt or sugar kick subsides I have been left with an empty feeling and the desire for a proper home-cooked meal.
