A graduate of the Wolves Scholarship scheme with William Beamont School, Blythe is a rapidly rising centre or second rower who made his Super League debut in the final game of last season at Salford. A former Rylands and Leigh Miners Rangers junior, he represented England Academy against France in both 2006 and 2007 and was Wolf Pack junior player of the year in 2007.
