A home-grown Warrington talent who was the sensation of the second half of the 2007 season, Penny earned himself a place in the Super League Dream Team despite only coming into the first grade squad at the start of June. Won the Warrington Sports Personality Wolves Player of 2007 award. An outstanding natural athlete who excelled at a variety of sports as a schoolboy, he had once targeted a basketball scholarship to the US before being picked up by the Wolves Academy. A winger with express pace, Penny continued his prolific scoring record in the lower grades with a ratio of a try a game in Super League. A natural try scorer with a poacher's instinct for the line, Penny is a very well balanced runner who can take defenders on the outside and beat them for raw speed. He is also a fine ball-handler who brings transferable skills from the basketball court. Made his Super League debut at the end of 2006, the year he represented England Academy against France and Australian Schoolboys, also winning the Wolfpack U18 Player of the Year Award before his outstanding full rookie season in 2007. After his immediate successes attracted interest from rival clubs and rugby union, Penny signed a new four-year contract with the Wolves which will keep him at the club until the end of 2011.
