Well yesterday was charlie's appointment for his mri scan.

We arrived on the ward a bit early so after I got him settled and he had 'magic cream' but on both hands and both feet! then we went into the playroom to keep him distracted for a while which he loved !

He kept picking an actionman doll up and saying Da-Da ! LOL then he picked a shrek toy up, this is when I decided it was fine he couldn't say mama yet !LOL We went back into the ward at 12 and he saw the dr who put his canula in , he was in so much pain despite the magic cream and sobbed his little heart out ( along with some ear popping screams! ) His hands are too chubby ( bless! lol ) so he had to have it put into his foot - OUCH!

Many tears later he had just calmed down when it was time for the sedative ! Apparently its very bitter tasting which explains why he found it so hard to swallow without being sick!

It was all really traumatic for him and he was so upset! so once he had finished taking the sedative I picked him up for a well earned cuddle and within ten minutes he was fast asleep on my shoulder !

They had warned us it may take an hour to kick in ! not a chance lol I lay him in his cot and he was out for the count!

The scan itself was pretty straight forward although after being in there with him I now know there is no way on earth he could have coped with it unless he was sedated ! It's kinda like a big polo mint that you slide into the middle of but VERY claustraphobic and REALLY noisy !!! we had to wear headphones to muffle the sound it was like being in the middle of a builders yard but without the 'get ya **** out' being yelled! lol After the scan he came round REALLY groggy , very disorientated and not a happy boy atall ! screaming and crying and had no control of even his head it was so hard to watch and in hindsight I wish someone had prepared me more for it.

We had to stay on the ward until gone 7pm because he reacted quite badly and was taking a long time to come out of it and even then he wasn't anywhere near himself! But he slept through the night ( for the first time in months ! LOL ) and was still there at 8 30 this morning ! he has slept lots today and i think he is finally getting back to normal which is brill!

Now we just have to do the dreaded wait! There is nothng worse than that waiting period whilst you are waiting for the results of everything to come together. And I must admit I also hate the fact that they know whats going on with my son and I dont ! lol Anyway until we go back on the 18th I am just going to carry on as normal and try to keep distracted as much as I can , oh and spoil my little man rotten for being such a clever brave little boy of course!
