MUM-of-two Sarah Blackburn was filled with pride when her husband revealed he would be cycling from Morecambe to Warrington to help fund research into fibromyalgia.
Phil Blackburn, 47, from Howley will cycle to Warrington Town Hall on Sunday in aid of The Fibro Flare Magazine – a health publication for those either diagnosed or wanting to understand chronic conditions.
Sarah from Howley was diagnosed with fibromyalgia two years ago which causes her to suffer pain all over her body.
The 42-year-old, who has been married to Phil for eight years, said: "I am really proud of him. This means a lot.
"There isn't enough awareness out there. It even baffles doctors.
"I'm 42 and some days you can't do anything.
"When you have a family and still work full time you just have to hide behind the pain and the fatigue and try to live life as much as you can."
Phil is no stranger to pushing himself to his limits after completing two London Marathons in aid of the British Heart Foundation in the late 90s.
But this is a cause close to the couple's heart and he is determined to reach the finish line.
Phil, who works for Warrington Borough Council as a bin man, will be cycling 66 miles during the charity cycle.
He said: "I do a lot of spinning classes and for my job I am always on my feet walking about.
"I have seen what my wife has been through so I just thought why not give this a go."
