TRAINS have been cancelled both ways between Warrington Central and Liverpool Lime Street after a person has been hit by a train at West Allerton.
Delays are expected until 9.30pm for passengers travelling from Warrington Central and Runcorn train station after emergency services were called to the scene earlier this afternoon.
A British Transport Police spokesman said: "We were called to West Allerton station at around 4.15pm on Tuesday, August 30, following reports of a person being struck by a train.
“Our officers attended along with colleagues from the North West Ambulance Service but sadly a person has been pronounced dead at the scene.
“The death is not being treated as suspicious.
“Officers will now look to establish the person’s identity and inform their family. A file will be prepared for the coroner."
Tickets are being accepted on services and replacement buses are currently being organised.
