AN amateur dramatics society is promising that you will be smiling like a Cheshire cat if you go to watch its latest production.

St Joseph’s Players' comedy Cheshire Cats focuses on six women trying to speed walk their way to fundraising success at the London MoonWalk in aid of breast cancer charities.

With that being the subject matter, some of the proceeds of the play will be donated to help the fight against breast cancer.

A spokesman for St Joseph’s Players said: "Cheshire Cats is a cross between a girls' night out and a real mission to support a cause close to many hearts, with plenty of laughs and a few tears along the way."

Gail Young's play, which is produced by Pauline Nevell, sees one of the women characters struggle to meet the physical demands of the 13-mile challenge.

It will be held at St Joseph’s Concert Hall on Chapel Street, Leigh, from 7.30pm between Tuesday, September 13, and Saturday, September 17.

Tickets priced £8 for adults and £4 for under 16s are available from Ratcliffe’s Cyclelife of Leigh on Bradshawgate, Leigh, or you can pay on the door.
