THERE are two weeks to go until the winners are announced in the first Warrington Inspiration Awards.

We launched the contest last month as part of our celebrations for the 160th birthday of the Warrington Guardian.

And the judges have now made the difficult decision of narrowing down the entries into finalists ahead of the night on October 3.

We will announce those finalists in next week’s Warrington Guardian, September 26, with the winners being revealed at a glittering ceremony at The Halliwell Jones Stadium.

We launched the awards, to find the best teacher, carer, hero or charity champion in our town, celebrating the greatest achievements of the borough’s residents.

And as well as the awards, the night promises a great evening of entertainment.

Nicola Priest, Warrington Guardian editor, said she is looking forward to celebrating with all the nominees next month.

She said: “It has been such a difficult job whittling down the entries to finalists, and even more of a tough job to choose just one winner in each category.

“I am certainly glad I was not judging.

“Reading the entries has been a very humbling experience. We know how many inspirational people there are in our town, achieving great things.

“Now I am looking forward to celebrating with them on what promises to be one of the highlights of our birthday year.”

Our preview of the event will include a run down on the two finalists in each category as well as a word from our generous sponsors.

Anyone wanting tickets for the night, can buy them from our promotions team via events@nqnw.co.uk or 0845 3139463 or from reception at the Warrington Guardian offices on Bridge Street in the town centre.

They are £30 which includes a three course meal and entertainment.
